Heat Blast

Toxic, Deadly Gas Fumigation

How does it work? Temperatures within the structure are raised with propane powered heaters to 140-160 degrees, no hotter than a sauna, to bring the core wood temperature to 130 degrees. For whole structure treatments, the structure is wrapped with thermal drapes to contain the heat, but the roof does not need to be covered. Entire structure is tarped and fumigated with Vikane (Sulfur-Fluoride) or Methyl Bromide (Makr).
Effectiveness A five year study was conducted by  U.C. Berkeley and proved the Heat Blast system to be the only 100% effective form of drywood termite control. U.C. Berkeley study showed 98% efficacy utilizing double the average dose.
Treatment Time Typical job is completed in six to eight hours. No moving out or bagging foods or medicines. Requires 3-5 day move out, and proper aeration when fumigation is complete.
Preparation Heat sensitive items need to be removed or protected with thermal blankets. Average preparation time 15-30 minutes. Food and medicines must be bagged or removed. People, pets and plants must vacate for 3-5 days. Average preparation time 8-10 hours per adult.
Possibility of damage If proper prepartion is not completed as outlined by the inspector damage may occur to heat sensitiv items. Possibility of death. Roof damage, plants within 4 feet of structure killed, possible pockets of gas trapped inside structure.
Safety No person has ever died, become ill, or been hurt using the Heat Blast system. Deaths have occurred during and after fumigations. There have also been deaths to workers. Possibility of pockets of gas remaining under furniture or in poorly ventilated areas of the structure.
Cost Costs are based on locations of infestations, size of treatment area or structure, and necessary equipment to complete job.  Treatment priced based on size of structure and attachments only.
Can you localize the treatment? With the Heat Blast System you can treat an entire structure, one room of that structure, or portions of the structure and still have the assurance of a termite free environment. The Heat Blast system is ideal for single family homes condominiums, and apartments. No, with gas fumigation, the entire structure has to be treated at one time. All occupants of the structure must vacate during the treatment.
