- Worker size: 1/8 to 1/4 inch ( 3.5 to 7mm) in length
- Evenly rounded thorax
- 12 antennal segments, no antennal club
- Head is brownish black, thorax is red and abdomen is velvety black
Tip: Workers give off distinct odor when crushed. related species are
all brown.
